Gay/lesbian Family's

You may look at the title and already have opinions on what I'm about to say, or wonder what the hell I'm going to talk about...which is fine, I'm not here to argue my point of view or argue with anyone else on there's, I just want to state what I have been thinking all day.

See, this morning in class, we read an article about Gay and Lesbians being parents.  It showed both sides, and then it showed the "truth".  What I mean by that is it showed statistics.

I'll start with the argument that Gay or Lesbian parents are not as fit as a "standard family".  First off, what is the standard family?  Now days, only 1 in 4 family's are what is considered the standard (1 FATHER, 1 MOTHER, and 1 or more CHILDREN).  Not only that, but more and more children are being put into foster home after foster home because there's not enough couples out there to take all of them in.
You could say that a child growing up with two dad's will most likely go through a life of tease from his piers, and you're probably right!  But does that make that child less likely to succeed?  What about the common idea of if a boy is brought up with two dad's, or a girl is brought up with two mom's, that's going to make them more likely to be Homosexual.  Those are two good arguments, and questions most people have, especially homophobic's., but to them there not questions, there facts.  Facts that were never proved of course.

The truth is, study's show that a child within a homosexual family is as likely to succeed as one in a heterosexual family.  The child may grow up even more aware of gender issues and be able to look past a lot of the bias many children are still growing up with today (such as a woman has to clean and cook, a man has to work and bring home the money).
But if you're religious, then you can throw that last paragraph out the door, because even if you read the statistics, religion usually is more powerful then facts (OK no comment about that last sentence please, I'm not trying to degrade religion in anyway)

Also, another good "positive" is wouldn't it be better that a child belong to a loving family rather then being in and out of foster homes where they usually get treated worse and worse as the older they get?  Not only are homosexual parents just as good (or bad for that matter) as heterosexual parents, but they are generally more willing to take in the children with problems then a family who wants the "standard".

So with all this said, why am I writing about it?  It's something that really never crossed my mind too much before today because I don't have a problem with it.  But on the way home, I was surprised to notice a bumper sticker that said "Marriage = Male+Female" made by the 700 club (it's a religious show if you don't know) and made me think how can people ignore facts so blindly or be so bias when they don't know the truths?  It really kind of angers me that in this day and age, we still have such problems as sexism, racism, and such bad homophobia, because we learned years ago that all men and women were created equally.

And although I said I'm not going to argue back to what you guys think, I'd really really like to hear what you think.  Please post and let me know.  Also, do you think this kind of thing will get better over time?  or do you think homophobia among family's will always be very bad?

*Good Week*
Well, it's been a really good week.  Me and Desiree haven't been arguing, not that we argue a lot, it's just once in a while, we do..and it's been a while, so that's a good thing =)  Also, I started my routine yesterday...it's going pretty well, I feel good, even though I didn't workout much, my body feels a little better....I think i coulda pushed myself more because I'm not even soar today.
Anyway, I like this time off from everything, well everything except life...Did you know in some countries, companies take 3 weeks off, basically the WHOLE country, just to take a vacation?  They say it's because the suiside rate is so high in that area that they need it...whatever!  I mean I think that's great, if you can get away with it, but how cheap is that??  We don't have that in america, and we have all the biggest companies, well a lot of them anyway...
OK, I'm done ranting...I really like posting on my xanga a lot more now, now that I have the time I guess.  OK BYE BYE NOW!!

GOOD MORNING!  IT'S GOOD TO BE ALIVE!

*The End*
As I walked out of Electronic Arts yesterday, I realized I was a changed person.  I realized it wasn't just what I learned, but also the people I'd met, and the experiences we shared.  I realized I really made a couple good friends, 3 in particular.
Right before I walked out of the door for the last time, I took a second and made a promise to myself.  I said, "The next time I walk through these doors as a profesional, I'll be doing it for a much better job, a much better life".  And I really plan on keeping this promise, and the promise I made to my boss.  "Jeremy," he said as he shook my hand, "Graduate..."  That was the last thing he said.
So now, it's over.  I'm unemployed.  Done with EA.  Time to move on...It will be interesting to see where life goes from here...
